You can save a log of your work in the Note Editor so as to remember how you got to a particular point in your mix. Open the Note Editor and click menu item File/Previous Step. This action is permanent and does not go away, but you may move this step to the left of the window so it's easy to reopen the Note Editor by clicking File/Next Step.
Once you have opened the complete folder where your libraries are saved, you will need to find the exact folder where your Drum Rack library is located. To find out, check the 'Place drum racks in' and 'Open User Libraries' options in Settings > General.
Instrument Rack is probably the best way to store instrument templates like synth patches and drum patterns, but many people like to store their GUI and window placement settings this way, too. Not many people can afford to spend hours and hours re-positioning your UI every time you open a new project. So I have made the preset changes to the template folder locations for Instrument Rack and Window position less permanent and have added in the ability to locate your UI to save time when opening a project. You can also put your GUI in a more stable and permanent location by selecting FIXED directory, which is achieved by choosing Settings > preferences > general > General. You must switch to Single mode in the File menu so this setting applies to the whole program. d2c66b5586
