The ISF may sound quiet at times but when it gets going it was nice. The original is a "light" compression. The Neve's may not have many knobs and buttons but they're to blame for sounding compressed. The API has a compressor available but I think it can be replaced by a bunch of knobs for ease of use. The SSL is nice and toasty on the kick.
The Fender is a 138k hertz to 2k hertz filter. The EQ is not very transparent but I think that is because they use multiple tubes. They are over the top with color, saturation and tonal balance though.
The Channel Ver Truk is the same as the Trident and the API. But can I say that it sounds more like the SSL? It is similar to the SSL but less transparent and has an other type of sound. Other than that it is a solid channel strip when transparent. The Neve has a nice sound but lacks some presence. The Trident has a nice hi frequency response with good bass.
The Trident is a part 25 FXWH or something like this. All powerful, but it means small amounts of parts. I don't know what the Neve's are, could be audio only or maybe a 14 bit?Only looking at the graphs I'm guessing that the Neve and API are more DSP driven than the Trident. Where The Trident has a wet sound, The Neve and API could use a bit more compression. The Trident has a warmer sound with a fairly good soundstage.
So far the API has a more flat sound stage, so it might not be the most accurate when measuring it's accuracy. It's not as bright as the API. There again I feel the API sounds more natural. The Trident has a more defined sound stage, and only the API has 3 FX (?)
I have been really interested in tape emulation plugins to balance the use I do with my HEDD 192 from Cranesong. I wanted alternatives for occasional works, especially when it comes to quick digital fixes. I had decided to get the subscription from Slate Digital and was happy to see the Virtual Tape was included. Using this plugin for the last year has been providing incredible results. Sometimes, it's really close to my hardware in terms of warmth it can provide or for the low end it brings out of any songs. For electronic music, in a mixdown situation, it really does a great difference on the kicks and basses. I can only recommend it. d2c66b5586
